Komarnik
Lake Komarnik is located in close proximity to The Black Cross. This is a natural asset of national importance with favourable conditions both in and around the lake for the growth and development of aquatic plants. Taking a stroll around the lake, you are likely to spot the white water lily, water caltrop, fringed water lily, and several other endangered species. Lake Komarnik is also rich in fauna, and you just might catch a glimpse of an otter as well. We must emphasize that this is one of the most important aquatic bird nesting sites in all of Slovenia (the little grebe, sedge warbler and almost half of the Slovene common pochard population). A walking trail can be found near the lake, as well as an observation tower for all avid ornithologists.
